Volunteer Opportunity
 Any of you who attended the Seniors Lunch in December will remember the wonderful performance by the Grade 1 class from Lambton Kingsway School. Since the concert, the class teacher, Don Blais, has contacted us to ask if there might be any parishioners who would be willing to help in the classroom.
He's says that he has seen the wonderful connection between seniors and young children in the past and hopes there might be some parishioners who have some time and an interest in interacting with the children.
Mr. Blais reports that the obvious activity is reading related with a single child or a small group. If a senior would be coming back regularly, he would consider establishing a friendship with a child who would be regularly visited. This might be a child that requires extra reading assistance. But he also says that the involvement need not be confined to reading. If someone has an interest such as knitting, or boat building, this could be a very stimulating relationship for a group of children and the adult as well. If the adult has no preference, then Mr. Blais would be happy to set up a little activity for them.
So, Mr. Blais is flexible in terms of time (duration of each visit and frequency of visits) and the activity to be conducted with the children.
