Description:
This group of volunteers will monitor the sound system during services, record services when possible, and attempt to assist with setting up audio equipment for special events.
Information for all Audio Operators:
Comments - July, 2009
The new sound system has been in operation for over a year now. Unfortunately it is not being used to anywhere near its capabilities:
- we need an operator working the controls every service - to adjust for the foibles of the various people speaking into the microphones; muting mics at appropriate times, etc.;
- recordings are easy to make with the system, so we could have every Service available to shut-ins and others via the website -- we just need someone there to set it up every week;
- there is no need to use the "Ladies Group's Portable Amplifier" in the auditorium -- the new system gives better coverage -- and you can use the wireless mics.! We just need more people willing to plug it in;
- there are lots of 'extra connections', so special events in the church could be "miked" to accommodate most requirements -- but someone has to be told of the requirements in enough time to plan ahead and then set-up the right equipment. (Let's talk in 'months', instead of the 'days', notice we're getting now.)
- It would also be helpful if the Audio Group was involved in some of the rehearsals, so their part of the production could also be practiced.
Before investing any more money in a Phase 2 of upgrades, we need to get more people involved in working with the audio operations. Jon has his hands full looking after the telecommunications/computing systems, and I'm away half the year. There must be more "techie types" in the congregation than just Jon and I.
*Please suggest **a list of names* so we can get 8 - 10 people willing to do any of the above tasks on a regular basis. If they can program a DVD they're qualified! -- we'll teach them the details of our system "on the job".
